Abigail Henderson
Director of Development
Abigail Henderson is a songwriter, musician, activist, and survivor. After graduating from college, she joined a rock and roll band. She has traveled the country and the world with The Gaslights, sleeping on both park benches and in fancy hotels in pursuit of her art. She brings a performers perspective to the Midwest Music Foundation, |
knowing first hand the challenges of living a life following a song.
Being a musician means working without a net. Having weathered the beautiful storms of touring, recording, and promoting for close to six years, she was diagnosed with cancer in 2008. After kicking it in the teeth with the help of the Kansas City musical community, she hopes to create a permanent net for musicians in the city as well as the surrounding areas so they may continue to create, inspire, perform, tour, and live well.
She believes, whole-heartedly, that the songs and performers created in the Midwest are a different (perhaps tougher) species; ballsy, innovative, and maybe even a little crazy ... in the best way possible. Her work with the MMF aims to promote and support music and musicians as well as help establish a dynamic relationship between Kansas City and the musical arts community at the grassroots level. |

A computer programmer by day, assisting with the webpage development seemed natural. He also has interest and has helped out in other areas, including concert and music promotions. Brenton functioned as dj, business manager, and assistant music director of his college radio station and has carried the passion for new music with him ever since.
